Behind the Scenes: Validation Rules & Permissions

Hello fellow activity management gurus.  By now everyone should have reviewed their final Q1 numbers, both in terms of closed business and activity.  Hopefully, you've worked with your producers and they have made some strides through April to continually improve and grow their business.

Today we are going to take another behind the scenes look at eScoreBoard.  The last time we were "behind the scenes" we told you about hardware.  This time we want to highlight a couple of improvements that are a part of eScoreBoard 4 but you may not find them by just clicking around the website.  The two we want to visit are:
  1. Daily and weekly validation rules
  2. Permissions

Daily and Weekly Validation Rules
Just as a refresher, a validation rule is a either a "warning" or "prevent" that is setup for your categories when a producer inputs his/her activity.  For example, you may want to "warn" your users when they input closing interviews greater than 10 for a week and you may want to "prevent" them from entering a value greater than 20.  This function is available to ensure good data is getting eScoreBoard.  Like the saying goes, garbage in, garbage out.

Previously in eScoreBoard 3, we only had one set of rules that applied to both daily and weekly users.  At the time this made sense as the vast majority of our users were reporting weekly.  Now that we have a ever-growing contingency of daily reporters, we've added a seperate set of rules for this group.  Going back to our previous example, we may "warn" daily reporters when closing interviews are greater than 2 and we may "prevent" any value greater than 4.

Permissions
New to eScoreBoard 4 are some behind the scene controls to limit the access for different levels of users.  Maybe you do not want your producers to be able to update their account information or modify their goals.  Now we have the ability to set each page to either disabled, read-only, or full access (default), for any level of users within your company.

Setup of either of these items can not be done through the user interface.  Please contact your SAM account manager or integration manager and they will be happy to setup this up on your account.

Remember, what get's measured, tend to get done.

All the best,
- The eScoreBoard Team
